RE: Admissions Revisions
Dear Prospective Applicants,
The Master of Data Science (MDS) program at the (UCI Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences) would like to inform you of two important updates regarding the admissions process starting October 2023.
Admissions Timeline:
The MDS program has revised our admissions deadline. The program will now have two main application deadlines – December 15th and January 15th for the regular admissions cycle. Additionally, Domestic Applicants only will have the option to submit their application until April 15th. All application materials (including letters of recommendations and test scores) must be submitted by 11:59 P.M. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on the respective deadline.
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Requirement:
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) requirement has been WAIVED until the Fall 2026 Entry Term. Therefore, submission of GRE scores is not required for applications. Submissions will not be considered in the admissions decisions.
Supplemental Document Requirement:
The MDS admissions committee would also request that you submit a supplemental document as part of your application. This supplemental document will request you include a list of your completed coursework in Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics. This list should include course title, course number, and the grade received for each course. Please ensure that your document is clearly labeled with your name and email that you used for the application, and that is it uploaded to your application portal before the application deadline.
